Isn't there a pane that you can swipe in where you can toggle the ctrl (and other) keys for a single subsequent keypress ?

As in, you swipe-in this pane, then you toggle Ctrl to ON, then you press A, and that functions as a Ctrl + A command sent to the remote terminal.

Obviously you'd then have to repeat by re-toggling the Ctrl key to ON (since it will have gone back to OFF as soon as you have pressed the A key), and then press C to copy and ... well ... you know what to do from there =]
