Ubuntu - Failed to install file: not supported

Hi

I'm trying to get an elderly friend to install the .deb teamview file. She is following the steps at

https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/How-to-install-TeamViewer-on-Ubuntu/ta-p/45 and says it will prompt to Authenticate but this doesn't happen.

Instead the Software Installer reports the error "Failed to install file: not supported".

Searching around yields lots of command line workarounds which are just not viable for my elderly friend to perform.

What happened to Quicksupport which was easy to run from a browser?

Sorry Gmail spam filter ate the reply notification.

Ok there was another issue with Ubuntu 14.04 which is fixed now. But I stll can't install TV!

Now, with the .deb version 64 bit the installer says "Dependency is not satisfiable: libqt5gui5|qt56-teamviewer"

sudo apt-get install libqt5gui5 results in

libqt5gui5 is already the newset version.

So why is the installer barfing on it?

    E2A: Urgh - just spotted this: https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Linux/Dependency-is-not-satisfiable-libqt5gui5-lt-5-5-Error/td-p/24811

"Ubuntu 14.04 and Debian 8 are no longer officially supported. (I know, Installation notes do not reflect that yet - will be updated)"

But the Installation notes add "For a transitional period, Qt 5.2 is still supported, allowing installation on Debian 8 and Ubuntu 14.04.  Hmm ...

Then I tried the tar package, after running tv-setup to check for library dependencies, after running sudo apt-get install, I get the same unable to locate package error with qml-module-qtquick2, qml-module-qtquick-controls, qml-module-qtquick-dialogs, qml-module-windows2, qml-module-layouts.

And yes I've run sudo apt update.

    When I download Ubuntu, Debian*.deb package 15.19.3 x86 64 bit from

    https://download.teamviewer.com/download/linux/teamviewer_amd64.deb

and try to open it with Software Install (default) in my Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS

I get the message "Failed to install file: not supported"
