This article applies to all users using TeamViewer Classroom.
With Classroom, you are able to divide sessions into smaller groups, so-called "break-out rooms".
You can create additional parallel video conference rooms and assign students into different rooms for smaller working groups (randomly or manually). The number of available breakout rooms is limited to 20.

What are breakout rooms?
Breakout rooms are additional virtual rooms that can be created in your Classroom session in order to divide the entire group of participants into smaller groups.
How to create breakout rooms
There are basically two ways to create breakout rooms:
1) the number of breakout rooms is determined.
2) the number of participants per room is defined.
👉 The number of automatically created breakout rooms is calculated by dividing the total number of participants by the specified number of participants per breakout room.
In the animation below, you'll see how to create breakout rooms, add new rooms and move users to each individual room.
How to create a new breakout room with a specified number of rooms:
1) Click the Breakout Rooms icon during an ongoing Classroom session. The settings dialog for breakout rooms is displayed.
2) Use the slider to set the number of participants.
3) Click Continue.
4) Drag-and-drop the participants from the left into the rooms of your choice or use the auto-assign function.
5) Rename the rooms if necessary by clicking on the icon with the 3 dots on the right.
6) Click on Create rooms
How to create a new breakout room with a specified number of participants per room.
1) Click the Breakout Rooms icon during an ongoing Classroom session. The settings dialog for breakout rooms is displayed.
2) Use the slider to set the number of breakout rooms.
3) Click Next.
4) Drag and drop the participants from the left into the rooms of your choice or use the auto-assign function.
5) Rename the rooms if necessary by clicking on the three dots icon on the right.
6) Click on Create rooms.
💡 Hint: With a click on the Add room button you can create additional breakout rooms if required.
How to close breakout rooms
You can close breakout rooms at any time.
1) In the participant view, right-click the icon with the three dots of the breakout room you want to close. The Settings dialog for the breakout room is displayed.
2) Click Close room.
The closed breakout room is no longer displayed in the participant's view.
💡 Hint: If there were participants in the closed breakout room, they will be displayed in the participant view and can be assigned to other breakout rooms.
