You can share groups with individual contacts from your Computers & Contacts list. This way, entire groups can be made available to other contacts quickly and easily.

A cloud Icon will appear next to a shared group.

  • A grey cloud means that this group is owned by you and shared with others.
  • A white cloud means this group is owned by someone else and shared with you.

You can share one or more groups with as many contacts as possible.

This article applies to all TeamViewer (Classic) free users and customers with a Business, Premium, Corporate or Tensor plan.

How to share groups via the TeamViewer client

To share groups via the TeamViewer client, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the TeamViewer client.
  2. Click on the group you want to share.
  3. On the right-hand side, click on Share.
  4. Click on Add.
  5. Select the contact you want to share the group with. Click on OK.

  6. Select the permissions the contact should get. Click on OK.

How to share groups via the Management Console

To share groups via the Management Console, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Log in to the Management Console: https://login.teamviewer.com/
  2. Click on the group you want to share.
  3. Click on Edit group (blue pen icon).
  4. Click on Shares.
  5. Select the contacts you want to share the group with.

  6. Select the permissions the contact should get. Click on Add.
  7. Click on Save.

How to share a group via User management (for admins)

To share a group via User management, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Log in to the Management Console: https://login.teamviewer.com/.
  2. Go to User management on the left menu.
  3. Click the user account you wish to share with, and select the three dots ( ⋮ ) to the right. Click on Edit User.
  4. Click on the Shares tab and select the groups and permissions for the respective user.
  5. Click Add to add the chosen groups.
  6. Click Save in the upper right corner to confirm.

📌Note: The groups are not shared automatically with the users when creating a company profile. The group owner must manually share the groups with the other users as described above. This can only be done once the user verifies their account.

Permission levels for group sharing

If you share your TeamViewer groups with other contacts from your Computers & Contacts list – either using the Management Console or the TeamViewer client – you can specify which permission level each contact is given.

The different permission levels grant the contact access rights to manage the computers and contacts inside that shared group.

The following levels of permission are available:

  • Read-only: The contact can view the shared group and will be able to connect to the computers and contacts within this group. The contact cannot make changes to the group.
  • Read/Write: Extends Read-only with the ability to change the group, such as deleting or renaming contacts and adding or moving contacts to the group.
  • Full Control: The contact can view the shared group in their Computers & Contacts list and connect to the computers and contacts within this group. The contact can change the group (delete or rename contacts, add contacts, etc.). The contact can re-share shared groups and move contacts and devices from shared groups to own groups. Devices assigned to an account can be moved within the company into another shared group.
