On server operating systems, TeamViewer (Classic) operates without any special adaptation.
Enhanced multi-user support
Make sure to activate the Enhanced multi-user support Option (activated by default for TeamViewer 11 and later) in the TeamViewer (Classic) Options under Advanced.
This option generates an individual TeamViewer ID for every user who connects to the server using Remote Desktop (RDP) by Microsoft as well as for the physical console. Therefore, parallel and individual work in each session is possible.
After activating the Enhanced multi-user support, there are two different IDs:
1. Server ID
The TeamViewer ID of the console of the server operating system (as if one were physically sitting in front of the server)
2. User ID
The TeamViewer ID of the user currently logged into the server using RDP.
💡Hint: Both the user ID and the server ID are always visible under Help ➜ About TeamViewer (Classic):
📌Note: As the QuickSupport module is a run-only executable that does not run as an installed service, it cannot utilize multi-user mode. Due to this, we do not recommend using the QuickSupport module on Windows Server when using RDP or Terminal server sessions. Instead, we recommend using the Host module or the TeamViewer Full Client. For personal use
As of September 17th, 2020 it is possible to use the free version of TeamViewer (Classic) for on a server operating system. Before this date, only a time-limited trial mode was possible.
If TeamViewer (Classic) was installed on a server before this date, use of the free version is not possible, as TeamViewer (Classic) previously identified server-based devices and the associated TeamViewer ID as commercial automatically.
