Is there a test environment for the TeamViewer API?

We're looking to use the TeamViewer API to manage user groupings as part of a larger remote support portal. My team is wondering if there's a test environment for use by the development team so that they can work on enhancements or changes without impacting the production TeamViewer portal settings. Is there a test environment or mock API, or would we need to buy a second account for development use?
