Accessing computer without Internet but via LAN cable

Hello,
I was trying this:
on two laptops that are Not connected to the internet or to a modem/router. They are only connected to ech otehr by a crossed LAN cable. Ping says the connection is OK. and sharing disks is working. I have set the setting to "accept exclusively incoming LAN connections" but when trying TV can't connect.
Has anybody an idey where this goes wrong ?
It's my intention to access a NetTop W7 computer from a W10 Laptop on a remote travel and I don't want to take a screen and keyboard along to use the NetTop.
