Cursor (mouse) observations from "Controlling" Mac

I'm new here, plz excuse any duplication of topics already beaten to death

Can cursor observation be "two-way" ?

When I set up to control another Mac- it seems to work well, at least in that I see the screen, and I can operate the cursor remotely

BUT I can't see any cursor movement initiated by the OTHE Mac user. Am trying to help out a newbie Mac user, an d would prefer to let her try first, before I "take over" and do it myself. But curently, if she moves the cursor, I don't see it from my Mac's TV display.
