Install XPS reader on PC when trying to remote print with mac

I am trying to set up remote prnting from my mac lap top to my desktop.  I downloaded the remote printing on both mac and desktop. i went to activate remote printing on mac and it is asking for me to install XPS- reader. 

what is xps reader and where do i downloaded it? is it needed for remote printing or is there a way around  it ?
