Re: Stupid business network detection error

i too am being told that i am using TV commercially. I use TV to save many kilometers of travel several times a week. I am a volunteer at a community radio station. Volunteer means never receive remuneration for my efforts. I live35km each way from the station. I remote in to load spoken programs which we play daily and specific to the day. 6 hours worth of 15 and 30 minute programs. we have no other volunteers to do this so its me who loads and dates or we dont run the programs. if i lose TV access then ill be forced to resign my voluntary position after 23 years of doing it. i cannot afford the fuel for several runs a week to do it. come on mr teamviewer recognise some people are unpaid volunteers who appreciate the functionality that TV brings and use it to help others. The station is a Christian Community station. We gain funding to keep it on air from several on air appeals each year and thats only just enough.

Re: Personal usage flagged

I started to get this same commercial use message today. **bleep**? I use this for personal use only, at no time am I using it for montetary gain, or anything that would cause it to be flagged as "commercial."

I've used TV for years, this is ridiculous.

Contact support.

It may take a while to get it fixed but they eventually help.

I wish they had a "consumer" version I could buy that didn't cost 800 bucks.  I would like to support the cause but not at that much expense...

Why does the free personal version kick me off after 5 minutes?  Is this the pain of using the free version or does mine have an issue?

Re: Please upgrade your license - personal use.

I had this same issue and support told me that when a computer is used for personal/commercial (as you explained) it's solely considered a commercial license endpoint... I was extremely dissapointed to find I accidentally forced a few of my clients from their personal use since I pushed my access to their home systems trying to help them.  Seems everyone has a catch to nail people for money these days.

Suspicion of Commercial use

Dear Sir or Madam,

Unfortunately today I got the message that there is a suspicion of commercial use of the Teamviewer. The connection will be terminated after 5 minutes. The problem I had in June 2016 ever since my account was actually converted to private. (Ticket number from back then [# 2567996])

I have a private server (which acts as a domain controller) and the clients that are in the domain.
However, I do not connect to the server itself by means of TeamViewer and there is no TeamViewer installed on it. I was told at the time but the message can also occur if I build too many connections. I also help a number of friends and acquaintances who have PC problems using Teamviewer.

But of course I do not want to have any problems, so I turn to you and ask for help.

Many Thanks
Patrick Simon

Re: we've detected you're using Teamviewer on a business network

I am having the same issue as well. I also access my home network from work, but it is all for personal use. For me it started when I would remote to one of my devices from my phone; however, now I get it when I remote into most of my computers.

I do have ~4 computers that are always on and logged into TeamViewer: my wife's desktop, my PC in the living room, my networking pc (the one I use to manage the home network), and another personal desktop. I do have ~15 offline devices; however, these are either old computers or family devices like my sisters or mom

Edit

I went through all the offline devices and removed all old devices and family computers I have not touched in over a year.

Re: we've detected you're using Teamviewer on a business network

I get the same message, but it is only when I connect my home laptop to my home desktop. They are both on the same home network too.

If I connect to my mom's desktop or any other PC from my laptop, I don't get the message.

Also, if I connect from my home desktop back to my home laptop, I don't get the message either.

For some bizarre reason TV thinks connecting to my home desktop from my home laptop is somehow for business use. Obviously, there's some bugs in their latest versions of TV.

"Your session has timed out" while getting USED!

Yes, this started happening to me as of recently. I'm using the PC, and I get timed out. Which result is a block of another connection due to my "limitations". Limitations I never had before, by the way! I was able to reconnect when this happened on a bad connection before. But now I'm on a stellar connection on both ends, stop timing out! And stop limiting my connection needs. I'm using this personally not commercially, no reason for having these limits. So I get to use it for 4-5 minutes every 3 minutes(it gets blocked for 3 minutes)

Thanks to whoever trying to resolve this with me, or for me.

I have to say Teamviewer used to be a lot better, but had been worse and worse for me. Both on Linux and on Windows. Is it possible to obtain an old version, maybe that will be better for me, as I don't like the progression Teamviewer has taken for the past year or two..

Commercial/Business Use detected

Hi, I'm using the versione 13.0.6447 with free license. I have an active account for manu years. I use the product to provide assistance to family and friends.

It is about two weeks that when I make a connection, I am told thath a commercial/businnes use ha been detected and that the session will be terminated in 5 minutes.

In addition to buying the license (which I can not, even for the use that I do) is there any way to solve this inconvenience?

Best regards

Re: TeamViewer thinks I’m using the software commercially!

Hi,

I use Teamviewer for a very long time. Always installed it on every computers I had, and same for all my family and friends, so I can help them whenever they need a hand with their computer or whenever I need to access one of my computer from any PC or phones I have.

I don't recall last time I used my Teamviewer but today, I tried to use it from my phones to access one of my computer and this evening at home, from one computer to another (they are on the same network at home). And each time I got a pop up saying that there is a commercial use suspicion. This is annoying. I do not want to be banned from using Teamviewer or have limitations while I have never used it for directly or indirectly paid purposes...

I hope it is a known bug in the detection algorythm and that it will be sorted out soon.

I do not want to come back to a **Third Party Product** like system. But if I have to, I will... My girlfriend is 300km away from me and she is often in dire need of help with the computer...

I have created a ticket n°3904424 and hope I will soon have a reply.

Kind regards,

Re: Commercial to Personal license

I just started getting "we've detected you're using teamviewer on a business network" (I am accessing my home computer from work to check email, etc. as I can't easily do that on my work computer)

is that commercial use? (I'd tend to not think so)

if so, will that error message eventually disable me from using teamviewer? (if yes, then I'd tell everyone to avoid it any context...)

Contact support sooner than later.   Non paid issues are very low priority and it takes time for them to correct the issue.

Re: Commercial to Personal license

I suppose

I'm just affraid if I contact support they might fully cut me off as they might interpret my usage as being commercial in nature (even though I don't get paid to read my personal email (!))

i figure if it starts limiting me to 5 minutes, i've got nothing to lose than to ask (and if that happens, I'll just start using some other tool

Trial Period Over for Personal Use???

I am using Team Viewer for personal use.  The website says this is free.  However, no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall Team Viewer, I keep getting a popup that tells me that my trial period is over and that I have to buy a license.  And, Team Viewer will not work anymore.  Team Viewer requires licenses for personal use?  When did that start?

Re: Personal usage flagged

I quit using them a while ago over this, because I felt a sense of guilt. I eventually found my way back.. I use it heavily on maybe 5-6 computers all of which are non-commercial and hobby-class if you will.

That said, I'm not sure if the heavy use on multiple computers is the issue here or if it's that I have several VLANs setup in my home because I'm a geek.. either way, I also do not appreciate being falsely accused of violating their license agreement.

I would be very happy to pay a person user subscription because I like the product so much.  Something that is fair, similarly to what Splashtop charges. However for my purposes, I could just as easily cut over to RDP or some other free alternative I just love the power of TV, and I regularly advocate to get it used in-house commercially so I could offset my guilt for using it freely for my personal use by gaining them a paying client.

Re: Trial Period Over for Personal Use???

Hi MJJPA,

Thank you for your post.

TeamViewer is certainly free for use, so long as the usage is within the free usage terms.

In regards to the "trial" message, this appears as a particular option was selected during installation.
"sl33pyon3" has posted a link to the correct information and reason, in his posted reply.
If you follow the article, it will show you how to resolve the issue.

Thanks again,

Re: TeamViewer thinks I’m using the software commercially!

Here's what I think is a unique (first and last time) problem/challenge for this legal fiction and its global community!

The following describes my predicament, and the problem that was presented to TV via its page at https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/commercial-use-suspected?_ga=2.44149412.1027327519.1519615486-....

"We are a family of four (soon to be five) out of six (of my own) homeschooled children, and we utilize Team Viewer so I can "oversee/monitor", interact and support my children's education which takes place in our 100% digitized/paperless homeschool environment via Google's LMS (Learning Management System) "Google Classroom" (recent implementation). We have ZERO business appliances (because we don't have a business), and 20+ "personal-only" devices, computers, TV's etc, (including five PC's and a Mac).

We intended and hoped to rely on TeamViewer, all day, every day, but if our usage constitutes "commercial use" we will have no choice but to seek free alternatives (if possible), and compare TeamViewer's offering to that of fee-bearing services like Zoho, and/or utilize Google Hangouts in conjunction with other free programs such as Discord, scribblar, liveboards, or preexisting subscription-based bundle inclusions like Skype."

14 days ago I submitted my log file and the explanation above, and yesterday I discovered that actual/real "LAN-only" connections are possible with TeamViewer (by entering the IP addresses of the "local" computers in the "partner ID" section). I don't know if this would make a difference in being targeted as a suspected commercial user. I also discovered (in this thread) that vendor's/IT support tech's offering a service to you (and who remote into your TeamViewer ID's associated with "free/personal" accounts), can also arouse suspicion! I don't understand how that can have a bearing on the conduct of the machines connected to your "free/personal" accounts.

It'll be interesting to see what solution TeamViewer offers, and also if any other homeschooling parents use TV in the manner that I do, and if so, what their experiences have been.

I submitted logs and complaint to TV over a month ago now, still no action on my free user account, still getting the commercial use suspected and sometimes it says business network detected, though i'm only using it on my home network!!  So i doubt you will get any action from them, at this time they seem to be completely ignoring the free users.  They closed their ticket submission for problems to paid users only, then they made it separate page to submit a report for commercial use suspected, so the signs are their they are just tossing us out in the wind.

They remotely turned off the pop up message.

I just tested it at home between my two computers.

No more messages.

Thank you Teamviewer.

Hi.

Thanks for your suggestions.  I did look at Google's remote desktop, but that unfortunately doesn't suit our application requirements.  The closest product that would suit our requirements is FixMe.IT (at US$300 p.a.) but it's lacking some of TV's features which are also beneficial to us (such as the ability to have meetings and use VOIP) because my children and I use wireless headsets to communicate (to minimize disruption to those working) and sometimes we hold "meetings" so that they can all view my desktop from their PC's (instead of all hovering around the (four) monitors attached to my PC).

I realized that "allow incoming LAN connections" was "deactivated" (under extras > options) on some of my kid's PC's which was preventing me from connecting to their machines on the LAN.  Connecting this way means I don't receive the pop-up "commercial use detected/suspected" etc (makes sense, I think), but we cannot use VOIP or meetings feature because this occurs over the internet.  Soooooooooo....we're using a combination of TV (LAN-only) to oversee/support/model/demonstrate/assist only, in conjunction with "discord" (for VOIP and chat).  We're also testing fixMe.IT on a 15-day free trial.

As a fee-paying G Suite for Business customer (because as homeschoolers, we're frequently discriminated against and ineligible for many FREE "education" products like G Suite for Education, subscriptions and any applicable discounts) I may look at google hangouts, and/or "google meet" to see if I can achieve something similar to "'screen sharing meetings".

You know there's something wrong when a profoundly sick society (no surpises), forces you to hemorrhage US$30K p.a. for virtual private school curriculum, so you can homeschool your kids in order to protect them from xenophobes, racists, bigots, and predators like pedophiles, and hebophiles!

For the umpteenth time, I denied this for the umpteenth time.
