What to backup to protect against ransomware

We've made a a set of of backup set of files to help in the case of a ransomware attack.

Anyone know for sure which files should be included?

Thanks for the post. 

Usually, Ransomware targets user files and program database files. 

As a rule of thumb, I would consider the following: What I need in order to re-install the Operating system and to start working again as soon as possible. 

So basically all files and folders which cannot be replaced by a re-installation of the Operating systems and installed programs.
