Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Hi folks,

Unfortunately version 12 of our TeamViewer for Windows app is currently only available on mobile devices running Windows 10 Mobile, but not Windows Phone 8.1.

I have, however, passed your feedback on to our product management for their consideration.

Your best solution is to update your phones to Windows 10 Mobile, if you're able to. For example, I believe the Microsoft Lumia 640 Dual SIM (mentioned by @qraizer) can be upgraded. Then you'll be able to install v12 of our app, which will let you connect to TeamViewer 12 on a Mac or PC.

Are there any other users here who are using Windows Phone 8.1, and are unable to upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, and need to connect to TeamViewer 12 on their computer? Let us know by adding a Kudo to the top post here.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Hi @badevlad,

Thanks for your comment. We do certainly pay attention to the comments that are left by other users on topics such as this, even if kudos are not used.

When a thread in the Community is marked as solved - especially for a feature request such as this one - it does not mean that we are saying the requested feature has, or will be, provided. Marking an answer as the accepted solution simply means that the information provided in that answer is correct and the original query or request has been dealt with appropriately. In the case of a feature request, that means we have forwarded the feature request on to our product management, and have added it to our internal feature request tool. Once that is done, the topic here is "solved" because the required action has been taken.

If the answer to a feature request is that the feature isn't currently possible or available, or that it requires you to upgrade your OS and/or your TeamViewer version, then the topic is also considered "solved" because an answer has been provided to the request.

The TeamViewer 11 app on WP8 is still a fully functioning and usable app - you can still use it to connect to any remote computer running TeamViewer 11 or lower. And if the remote computer already has TeamViewer 12 installed, you can, for example, run the TeamViewer 11 QuickSupport app on that computer as a means of connecting to it without needing to uninstall TeamViewer 12 first. I appreciate that may not be convenient, but the point is that there are ways around this limitation for those of you who are stuck with old phones running this old operating system.

If anything does change with regards to WP8.1 we will certainly let you know, but in the meantime, there are no current plans to provide TeamViewer 12 on WP8.1. Our official recommendation is this: upgrade your device OS if you can, and use QuickSupport 11 on the remote PC if you can't.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Hi juergenhold,

Thank you for your post!

If I understand your question correctly, you are saying that you are not able to connect from your Windows phone to your computer with V12 Beta.

This functionality is definitely available for V12 Beta and after testing on our side, I have concluded that you should be able to connect from your Windows phone to your computer.

A couple of things you can check for:

  1. Ensure the TeamViewer App on the Windows phone is the latest version
  2. Ensure the TeamViewer App on your computer is the lastest version

After verifying that all applications are up to date, if it still does not work for you we would ask that you submit a ticket to our Technical Support team.

You can submit a ticket here> https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/contact/submit-a-ticket/.

Hope this helps!

All the best,

Jonathan

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

I too have the same problem.

I have the latest WP8 Teamviewer app from MS Store (uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times in frustration). I am simply unable to log into any Teamviewer 12 Beta PC's.

The error message reads "Your partner uses a newer version of Teamviewer. Would you like to update Teamviewer now to establish a connection?"
When you choose OK, nothing happens, nothing updates (hence the uninstall and reinstall procedure - and again the same problem).

It is very somewhat frustrating, and I'm sure an oversight on the developers - so please look to fix this issue.

I have the same issue - windows 8.1 phone app cannot be updated, but will not connect with pc. Also signing in to the forum just signs me in to my teamviewer account. Why do web designers do things like that?

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Hi all,

instead of just adding Kudos to the top post, I also wish to confirm the very same problem.
I'm using a Lumia 925 with Windows 8.1 as my work phone.

Our company just upgraded to TeamViewer ver. 12.0.72365 (Corporate multichannel)
We are one of the big IT service providers in Finland, and there is a huge amount of remote TeamViewer clients out there that have to be reached under all conditions 365/24/7.

I can see no reason to force about 140 specialists to upgrade their phone's OS to WP10 because of this, but rather we hope for a solution brought forth in order to support WP 8.1 clients like us, and others in this forum.

Your efforts towards this solution are highly appreciated!

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

I have the same problem, this time on a Nokia Lumia 635 running Windows Phone 8.1. I understand that the 635 won't upgrade to Windows 10, so do I have to downgrade the computers I support to TeamViewer 11 again? I say 'again' because I use AVG on the computers and have already been through all the hassle of AVG marking TeamViewer 12 as a virus, so have already downgraded to 11, then back up to 12 once that problem got fixed.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Thx for answer.

I tryed WP10 on my device for about a month last summer. It work fine but I have objective reasons to do rollback to WP8.1. Probably following summer will be more happy for WP10.

Thus I forced to refuse the TV12. Sorry.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

In this scenario, if a newer version is lauched, like 13.0, the windows phone app will update ( when it became avaliable ), and your license is for version 12.0, it will work ??? or you will need to buy a 13.0 license.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Whups, just kidding. It looks like my Nokia Lumia Icon 929 actually can be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile, but not through the usual update menu. Per Verizon Wireless's instructions, I had to download an app called "Upgrade Advisor" (made by Microsoft Corporation), which then checks your phone for compatibility with Windows 10 Mobile and allows you to upgrade. The process took a few hours and required me to keep my phone plugged in and charging, but I got the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile. Then I got the TeamViewer upgrade, and now TeamViewer works great. I hope this helps others!

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Lumia 640 Dual SIM also not notified me about available Windows update. I had to guess itself about some Advisor of some Upgrade. But it is not reason why I do not made this upgrade. Absent localized Contana is one of several more important reasons. (WP8.1 offers voice control. It's very few in comparison with the Cortana, but it greater than nothing.) Thus impossibility to connect from TV11 mobile to TV12 desktop remains to be problem.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

I wish to make it completely clear that this, so called, "accepted" solution is, most definitely NOT accepted by me. My Nokia 635 only has 512Mb of memory, so, therefore CANNOT be upgraded to Windows 10. I, therefore, still cannot use the TeamViewer product for the purpose for which it is intended. I require to know when TeamViewer version 12 will be made available to Windows 8.1 users. I have, previously, been extremely happy with the TeamViewer product, but this ongoing situation is causing my a great deal of annoyance and making me think again about recommending it to people as I have, frequently, in the past.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Don't know who qualified the "solution" in #1 as "accepted". That is definitely NOT a SOLUTION at all! - I would not even consider it a workaround taking into account all other postings here and my own experience. There are thousands of winphone users who CANNOT or DO NOT WANT to upgrade their windows phone to 10 mobile (having good reasons for that). Making TV 12 (and future versions, too) usable for all these many users will be the only REAL SOLUTION - rising the acceptance of TEAM VIEWER which is a really good program for daily tasks.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Well, apparently there were consequences to upgrading my Nokia Lumia Icon 929 to Windows 10 mobile. Things don't work quite right, there are some bugs that are rather annoying. Sometimes my phone even freezes and I have to hold the power button down for 20 seconds to get it to turn off. Upgrading some phones to Windows 10 Mobile may NOT be a "solution!" TeamViewer should be fixed to work with Windows Mobile 8.1.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Instead of counting Cudos you can just read comments under your app in a Windows Store. Lots of WP8 users asking to update app for their platform.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

I also have Nokia Lumia 925 but i never face this issue. But to get rid of this issue perform following steps:

  • Make sure you are uisng new , latest and update version of tv in both of your PC and Mobile device.
  • If first step is fail to solve the issue then hard reset your lumia device and try agian.
  • If both methods get fail then there is something wrong with lumia device so find the bug and fix it with the help of Nokia Lumia 925 Manual

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Well, Dufyra...maybe you should have read this msg chain starting at the beginning before commenting...

The issue that has been adressed and discussed here is that TV12 doesn't work in Windows phones with the Windows 8.1 OS, but requires Windows 10 to work.

Sorry to say, but your comments and suggestions will not solve this at all.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

At first, it is NOT A SOLUTION. For plenty of reasons users may be unable or do not want to change phone operating system.

At second, your idea with counting kudos is a worst idea ever. Do you realize that most of users there do not know how to add these kudos? Even for me experienced software engineer it took some time to find how to use this strange button.

And the last thing: if you do not plan to update this app for WP8, then you probably need to remove it from WP8 store ro at least add a warning in the description. You distribute an app that is absolutely inoperable for all WP8 users. It is an epic fail for marketing dept.

Point your mouse to the slightly visible heart sign inside of this button and press. Do not thank )

Someone must execute that developer or manager guilty for creating this button. That was not UX specialist for sure.

Re: TV 12 for Windows Phone?

Hi @neljohann,

Our QuickSupport app for Windows devices only supports Windows 10 Mobile, not older devices running Windows Phone 8.x. It's therefore not possible to connect to a Windows Phone 8.x device.

You can, however, connect from one Windows 10 Mobile device to another Windows 10 Mobile device!

I have a windows phone Lumia 640 LTE, i've upgraded to windows 10 but the sistem was unstable, having lots of crashes, and moving very slow (the phone has only 1Gb RAM, and windows 10 needs 2 Gb). So I downgraded to WP 8.1 and teamviewer cannot be used on this OS. Can't you make it work ?
