This article applies to all TeamViewer users.

The Whiteboard feature allows you to draw or write on the screen as desired both in TeamViewer Meetings and Remote Control sessions.

Turn On the Whiteboard

...during a Meeting

  1. To turn on the Whiteboard feature, click on the Paintbrust on top of your Meeting panel. To allow participants to draw on the screen, the presenter first has to enable the drawing box via the On/Off switch.Whiteboard_Meeting.png

     

...during a Remote Control session

There are two ways to turn on the Whiteboard during a Remote Control session.

  1. In the Connection Toolbar at the top of your connection window, click Communicate then the picture of a pencil in the Whiteboard section. You can use the Whiteboard features immediately.WhiteBoard 3.PNG
  2. Primary for the one receiving the remote control session: You can turn on the whiteboard by clicking the Paintbrush icon in the slide-out panel on the remote side when you connect. To start drawing with the whiteboard features you have to to enable the drawing box via the On/Off switch.

Using the Whiteboard

Once you have turned the Whiteboard on, you will see an additional toolbar appear that gives you tools to draw on the remote side or on the presenters screen (in a TeamViewer Meeting). Both sides will see the additional toolbar and you can start drawing.

The following tools are available: Whiteboard2.png

Tool Description
On/Off  1 Shows/Hides all previous drawings and allows/denies participants to draw. 
Remote Control 2

Pauses the drawing mode and lets you control the computer normally. The same can be achieved with a right click on the desktop.

Pen 3 Lets you make freehand drawings. With a right-click on the icon, you can select a color and the size of the pen.
Highlighter 4 Used for highlighting texts. With a right-click on the icon, you can select a color and the size of the pen.
Eraser 5 Lets you delete parts of a drawing. With a right-click on the icon, you can adjust the size of the eraser.
Rectangle 6 Lets you draw a rectangle. With a right-click on the icon, you can determine the frame and fill color as well as the width of the line. Press CTRL while drawing to draw a square. Press SHIFT to center the rectangle. Press CTRL+SHIFT to draw a square with center alignment.
Ellipse 7 Lets you draw an ellipse. With a right-click on the icon, you can determine the frame and fill color as well as the width of the line. Press CTRL while drawing to draw a circle. Press SHIFT to center the ellipse. Press CTRL+SHIFT to draw a circle with center alignment.
Text 8 Lets you write a text. With a right-click on the icon, you can determine the font size, color and type.
Speech balloon 9 Lets you draw a speech bubble. Click on any position to create the speech balloon. Write your text and then click again to define the direction of the speech balloon. With a right-click on the icon, you can determine the font size, color and type.

 

If you set the switch to off, the participants can no longer draw on the screen.

Hint: To leave a specific whiteboard feature, just do a single right-click

Saving the drawings

You can easily save your drawings by clicking on Save. You can choose where you would like to save your drawings and which format you would like to save the screenshot incl. the drawing in a PopUp dialog.Whiteboard_save.png

Note: In a TeamViewer Meeting only the presenter can save or delete any drawings.

Note: In a remote control session only the person who receives the remote control session can save the or delete any drawings.

Note: The TeamViewer panel with your Meeting or Remote Control information will not be displayed on the screenshot. The panel will be greyed out.

Clearing the drawings

You can easily remove parts of your drawings by using the eraser from the additional toolbar. If you would like to clear the whole screen, just click on Clear

Note: In a TeamViewer Meeting only the presenter can save or delete any drawings.

Note: In a remote control session only the person who receives the remote control session can save the or delete any drawings.
