TV 13 on Fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04 not loading GUI?

Fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04,  all packages up to date. I checked into the forums and adjusted my login to only use xorg.  I have completely disabled Wayland.  I use the teamviewer 13-64bit install, and gdebi to install it.

The daemon appears to load,  but I have no access to GUI.  it does not load.

  • Hi evbdy,

    I'm also using U18.04 and TV13( trying to!) ...

    I don't have any solution but looking for it led me there:

    ldd /opt/teamviewer/tv_bin/TeamViewer | grep 'not found'
    libQt5DBus.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Widgets.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Network.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Gui.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Widgets.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Gui.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Network.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Gui.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Gui.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Network.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Gui.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Network.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Network.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Widgets.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Gui.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found
    libQt5Core.so.5 => not found

    I searched for the first missing dependency:

    apt-file search libQt5DBus.so.5
    libqt5dbus5: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5DBus.so.5
    libqt5dbus5: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5DBus.so.5.9
    libqt5dbus5: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5DBus.so.5.9.5

    and tried to install it:

    sudo apt-get install libqt5dbus5

    Lecture des listes de paquets... Fait
    Construction de l'arbre des dépendances
    Lecture des informations d'état... Fait
    libqt5dbus5 est déjà la version la plus récente (5.9.5+dfsg-0ubuntu1).
    0 mis à jour, 0 nouvellement installés, 0 à enlever et 5 non mis à jour.

    TV13 is supposed to use QT5.6. Is this the only version? Should we dowwngrade QT? Should we link all missing libraries (*.so.5 ->  so.9.5)?

    Maybe support could lead us to the light? (-;))

  • Update....

    So Ubuntu is telling me libs are installed... I checked in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu and guess what... no files!

    So I forced reinstall of each missing lib doing this:

    1 Launching TV:

    /opt/teamviewer/tv_bin/TeamViewer

    /opt/teamviewer/tv_bin/TeamViewer: error while loading shared libraries: libQt5Core.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    2 Searching the package of the missing lib:

    apt-file search libQt5Core.so.5

    libqt5core5a: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5
    libqt5core5a: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5.9
    libqt5core5a: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5.9.5

    3 Forcing install

    sudo apt-get --reinstall install libqt5core5a

    For me missing packages were

    libqt5dbus5 libqt5widgets5 libqt5network5 libqt5gui5 libqt5core5a libdouble-conversion1

    And then i tried to launch TV:

    /opt/teamviewer/tv_bin/TeamViewer
    This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb"
    in "".

    Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, xcb.

    Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
    Abandon (core dumped)

    OK, new problem, new search.....

  • New update...

    Running :

    QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS=1 ./TeamViewer

    gave me this at the end of the ouput:

    Got keys from plugin meta data ("xcb")
    Cannot load library /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/platforms/libqxcb.so: (libxcb-xinerama.so.0: Ne peut ouvrir le fichier d'objet partagé: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type)

    so:

    apt-file search libxcb-xinerama.so.0

    libxcb-xinerama0: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxcb-xinerama.so.0
    libxcb-xinerama0: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxcb-xinerama.so.0.0.0

    but again apt-get install told me it's installed but no files at this place so

    sudo apt-get --reinstall install libxcb-xinerama0

    And TADA!!!

  • This worked for me.

    Uninstalled all versions of teamviewer.  ran these commands and then downloaed a fresh TV install.  Started up without issue.

  • i think another issue is in the libdouble-conversion1 that's not available anymore.

    i can see only the libdouble-conversion-dev and libdouble-conversion1v5.

    so i uninstalled teamviewer. then

    sudo apt --reinstall install libqt5dbus5 libqt5widgets5 libqt5network5 libqt5gui5 libqt5core5a libdouble-conversion1v5 libxcb-xinerama0

    and finally, in my case,

    sudo gdebi teamviewer_13.2.13582_amd64.deb

    Thank you for the help!

    I have tried all the solutions in this topic  but can not Launch TV GUI. Can I please have some help;

    here ar some of the error reports:

    /sbin/ldconfig.real: /usr/lib/libbrcolm2.so.1 is not a symbolic link

    /sbin/ldconfig.real: /usr/lib/libbrcolm2.so.1 is not a symbolic linksbin/ldconfig.real: /usr/lib/libbrscandec2.so.1 is not a symbolic link

    This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
    is only available from another source
    However the following packages replace it:
    libdouble-conversion1:i386 libdouble-conversion1

    Init...
    CheckCPU: SSE2 support: yes
    Checking setup...
    Launching TeamViewer ...
    Starting network process (no daemon)
    Network process already started (or error)
    Launching TeamViewer GUI ...

  • After an hour of browsing and trying dozen different solutions, I ended up installing 32-bit version instead of native 64 and worked like charm. Also fresh install of ubuntu18x64. Hope it helps
