i3wm and Raspberry Pi

After installing i3wm (window manager) and using it instead of the traditional LXDE on my Raspberry Pi, I cannot anymore connect to TeamViewer. It tells me (on the Windows computer from which I want to connect) that the partner is not connected to the server and gives me the error code: "WaitforConnectFailed".

On the Raspi, pstree tells me that teamviewerd is running. But "teamviewer daemon status" shows that the pid file does not exist.

Strange. Do I really have to use again LXDE? I felt comfortable with i3wm.
