We are delighted to present an enhancement to the Assist AR core function, to freehand drawing, by implementing a shape recognition enhancement.

It will facilitate the communication between expert and technician by offering a clean and clear picture during the call and will let them both use the perfect geometrical forms when required for a better understanding and support.

Shape detection

Shape detection allows the user to have a perfect geometrical shape without changing the process of the freehand drawing. After the May release, the hand-drawn shapes such as circles, straight lines, and squares can be replaced by geometrically perfect ones in case the user needs them. This new enhancement makes communication and object capturing during the call easier, cleaner, and thus faster.

Shapes

Which shapes are detected?

Currently, the following shapes can be detected and replaced with geometrical ones:

  • Circle
  • Straight line
  • Square

Detect a shape

The process stays very simple for the user: if you need to capture an object or a surface using a geometrically perfect shape, you just need to draw a circle/line/square with your hand and hold the finger for a moment at the end of the drawing. This way, you will see a semi-transparent geometrical shape that will replace your drawing after you lift the finger up. Feel free to continue drawing in case you need it, the semi-transparent shape will disappear to let you finish your idea.

📌Note: On Android, you will directly see the shape by holding the finger at the end of the drawing.
