I am getting the following error "The security code is invalid or expired. Please try again." when trying to log in to the remote desktop client. Oddly enough, the security code works when I log into the website.
I have this exact same problem on my host machine at home, but everything is OK when I logging in with my phone client or from a remote mac client. I need to get a document from my home Mac, which is set up as an easy access host. But when I tried to connect to it (it is set up for easy access), it does not show up. So now I'm 3000 miles away and can't get my file. With help from a relative who came to my house and helped me set up an SSH tunnel, I was able to remote-control the host via macOS built-in VNC. Then I tried to fix the Teamviewer host, but it won't let me log in. It refuses totally correct security codes. And it's not timing. You're gonna say timing. IT'S NOT TIMING. The security codes work fine on my phone and the MacBook I have with me (that I'm using to try to connect from). For the love of reason, why is this happening? Latest TeamViewer installed everywhere, up-to-date.
Hi @ifcumber,
Thank you for getting back to me quickly!
Can you kindly share the screenshots of the error message and the login screen on the TeamViewer client, please? I would need a bit more information to identify the actual issue.
Best,
Ying_Q
Hi @Ying_Q,
I'm aware of the time expiration that's why I mentioned that it worked for the website but not the remote desktop client. I've added the code with plenty of time to spare. Any other thoughts?
Thank you for contacting us for help!
Did you get the error message when you used the verification code from the Two Factor Authentication(TFA) app linked with your TeamViewer account? Please note that the verification code usually comes with an expiration, like 30 seconds or under a minute. If the verification code expires, please wait for the TFA app to generate a new code and use the latest verification code for account sign-in please.
Let me know if the information about TFA helps. If the issue is about something else, simply share more information with me and I will take a closer look.
