Discover how to control and monitor smart factories from all over the world with TeamViewer and the RevPi Core by Kunbus.

The Internet of Things is gaining momentum and industries are starting to implement solutions based on IoT into factories – thus the catchy label “smart factories”.

And with significant benefits in e.g. overall productivity, quality and scrap, or on-time-delivery at stake, manufacturers have every reason to set their factories’ transformation in motion.

To tap into that potential, a factory must be equipped with a variety of sensors, actuators, and even whole new machines to deliver data that can be aggregated and analyzed.

However, such a big-scale modernization involving machines obviously comes with an equally big price tag that drains profitability.

Kunbus, a German specialist for industrial communication, offers a remedy for that problem with their Revolution Pi Core, or RevPi.

It’s an industrial controller, based on the well-known Rasperry Pi, that offers a comprehensive connectivity solution to old machines, enabling its users to modernize old machines and introduce automated intelligence.

Thanks to TeamViewer’s recent collaboration with Kunbus, it is now possible to control and monitor, as well as remotely maintain smart factories equipped with RevPis not only within a local network, but from anywhere in the world and from any device.

How to Amplify Your RevPi Core with TeamViewer

As of late, you’ll find that TeamViewer is pre-installed on every single RevPi Core leaving the factory. Although, TeamViewer is not being started at boot time by default.

First, you need to unlock the integration on the RevPi’s configuration page. From then on, the TeamViewer agent will be started with the RevPi.

As it’s the case with every device connected to TeamViewer, a unique ID will be assigned to the corresponding RevPi. Afterwards, you’ll be able to access it directly from your Computers & Contacts list.

After connecting to the RevPi, your browser and the RevPi login page will pop up, leaving you to your work.

To allow other users to access a RevPi, they need to be granted permission by the specific client account that is paired with the device in question.

As always, all TeamViewer connections are protected by RSA 2048 public/private key exchange, AES (256 bit) session encryption end-to-end, and access control features, such as trusted devices or black- and whitelists.

Keep Up with the Transformation of Industries

Smart factories are not just dreams of the future. The transformation has already begun and will only accelerate from now on.

We’re proud to put TeamViewer and our users at the forefront of this exciting process and to enable all of us to stay in pace with the changes the Internet of Things has already set in motion, as well as the ones it is about to bring in the days to come.

Did already you have the chance to work with the RevPi/TeamViewer integration? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comment section below!
