In case you didn’t know: Just recently, I had the pleasure to announce an easy way to screen share your iOS devices with TeamViewer QuickSupport, for example.
As some of you might be aware, due to limitations imposed by iOS, developing and advancing our respective apps to offer you more extensive functionality is harder than with other operating systems. However, we’ve never spared the effort to find a solution that works as best as possible with the given restrictions.
With the new possibilities iOS 11’s new Files App opened up, we take another leap forward with the latest feature added to the iOS QuickSupport app.
By seamlessly integrating the QuickSupport app with the Files App, we managed to implement another market first that enables remote supporters to transfer files and move them around freely between locations on the device.

How to Handle Files with the QuickSupport Files App Integration
Apple’s new Files App, available for iOS 11 or later, allows users to manage files within and across all of their devices and iCloud Drive. Moreover, third-party apps, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, and many more, already integrate with it.
Most importantly, one of the apps that integrate with the Files App is TeamViewer QuickSupport. As a result, files can be exchanged and moved freely between QuickSupport, cloud services, associated devices and other apps, allowing you to work with them more conveniently.
Now, you can move or copy files received via the QuickSupport app to any other location in your Files App. The other way around, you can move files to the QuickSupport folder to have them available for File Transfer during a remote connection.
For example, users who experience malfunctions or see error messages may now simply take a screenshot and move it to the QuickSupport folder. On the next opportunity, they can get in touch with their technician. The technician can then simply have a look at the file to make a more precise diagnosis, while their customer doesn’t have to worry about how to explain the problem.
Since files can be moved around on the device freely with this update, QuickSupport is now also an option for transferring data that is meant to be consumed in other apps. Be it PowerPoint presentations, instructional videos, music – you name it. The days of email’s annoying file size restrictions are over.
How to Add TeamViewer QuickSupport to iOS Files App Locations
The following instructions were adapted from Apple’s Files App website.
Follow these steps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11 or later:
- Download and set up TeamViewer QuickSupport.
- Open the Files app.
- Tap Locations --> Edit.
- Slide to turn on the third-party apps that you want to use in the Files app.
- Tap Done.
