We have been using Teamviewer within our Support-Team for a long time. It is the fastest and most responsive tool out there. Image quality is superior and latency at a minimum. Interaction with the customer's machine is fast and responsive.
SO WHY DO WE HATE TEAMVIEWER?
Here are TeamViewer's most annoying habits in an ordered list:
- At the end of a session, you are spammed with an advertisement. I don't want that in a commercial license. It feels cheap and it is ultra-annoying. If you click "Don't show again", TeamViewer invariably crashes and needs to be restarted (macOS). STOP THAT!
- "Another copy of TeamViewer is already running". A lot of sysadmins install TeamViewer on customers' machines and keep it running for quick access. So far so good. However, when we use our own (embedded) version of TeamViewer, it conflicts with the other instance that is running and the customer needs to go hunting for it and shut it down. Please make sure this conflict does not occur!
- Reading out numbers is time-consuming and error-prone. People don't know how to spell letters. S and F are often confused, as well as B and D, N and M and so forth. Can you think of a better way to grant access to a customer's computer, instead of having them read a combination of letters and numbers?
- Using TeamViewer on macOS is a nightmare when done for the first time. Configuring system preferences to get past the security layer is hard and often unsuccessful. No other tool requires so much interaction with system preferences. This may well be the reason why TeamViewer is fast and responsive once activated but it is still ultra-annoying.
Dear TeamViewer team, please fix these issues and make our lives happy again :-)
THANK YOU!
