my "controlled" computer slows down and remain so even after RC is disconnected

the title basically says it.

I tried teamviewer to remotely control my desktop home from school twice and I keep finding my computer at home slowed down and remaining that way even after i turned off remote control service hours ago from my laptop.

I leave my desktop running with my online game and I use teamviewer to feed my pets and such when im at school during lunch hour.

I come back home hours later and find my game is slowed down like i am looking through teamview's window from the other end; my laptop during my lunch hour.

is this normal? or am i doing something wrong?
