Unable to uninstall previous version!

I have downloaded the 64-installation file (Windows) and trying to run it, but, it is saying that there is already a 32-bit version and I need to uninstall this first.
However.....
- TeamViewer does not appear in the list of applications when you hit the Start button
- There is not a TeamViewer folder in either c:\Program Files or c:\Program Files (x86)
- If I go to Control Panel, Programs and Features then I cannot see TeamViewer listed
So, I am really struggling to know what I need to do to persuade the installation process to continue. I assume tyhere must be something lurking somewhere that makes it think there is a version on PC.
Anybody got any suggestions for how to completely remove an old installation?
