Error Message: "There is already an active connection..."
Hello,
What can I do when I receive the following error message: "There is already an active connection to this device. Multiple remote control connections to the devices are not possible."
My account is the only account set up to connect with the remote device. In Teamviewer Host on the remote device it appears online AND says it is ready to connect.
Is there a way to work around this or fix this error? Thank you!

Hi @marciy36,
Thank you for contacting TeamViewer Community✨
It may be that the remote session is still active or another Window you are connected to is open.
In this case, restarting TeamViewer services could be helpful. Would you mind trying it, please? On Windows, completely close the remote TeamViewer including restarting the TeamViewer service. (Start --> run --> services.msc -> find TeamViewer and restart it)
Hope this would be helpful🍀
Best regards,

Hi. I am getting the same message trying to connect to a remote Android device. It is not possible to restart the remote services because I cannot connect to the device. Is there any way to disconnect remotely so that the "already" existing connection is terminated?

Any word on this? The host device is not in my hands. I am receiving the same error message. I rebooted the client Android device and still the same. Isn't there a timeout on the host? When I am idle after being connected I get booted off after a few minutes. I am going on 20 minutes here, unable to connect. There should be a way to remotely "kick off" the other connection(which is most likely me from half an hour ago) like we can do with RDP.

Barney Beans...Sorry you're having the same trouble as me. I've found there is NOTHING I can do until I can get to the remote android. I have to force stop Host and restart the app (which the response i got from TeamViewer). Inconvenient "glitch" as the point of using the app is for REMOTE assess! I don't even allow the connection to go idle; sometimes I just can't even start a connection. I do make sure my wifi connection is strong as I think sometimes a weaker connection will connect but drop immediately and Host "freezes". Sorry I don't have better advice!

On the desktop app for Windows, one if still able to disconnect previous sessions remotely.
Is this possible on Android?
Is there a preferred way to end the session that would eliminate this issue? as of now, I simply close the app on the visiting app when I want to end it (which can result in "still active sessions" error)
Perhaps if I use the host phone to end the session this won't happen?

my current solution (should anyone else find this useful) is to lock the Host app on the host phone as always being open. Many phones should allow for this.

Session remains active on my other laptop which is off
