After Reboot, TeamViewer EULA PopUp on Mac - CONSTANT and won't stop

After rebooting Mac today, TeamViewer is constantly showing a popup about their EULA. I've hit Learn More, I've hit "don't show this message again", I've closed the window, I've done all of it 4,267 times, and yet, every 5 minutes, I get this popup.

HOW DO WE MAKE IT STOP???

Teamviewer is running in background as usual, doing nothing, and yet this pop up (a system type pop up on top of everything else) comes every few minutes.

Background: I used to be an Avid TeamViewer User. That's no longer true. While I still think they are the best platform technically, I have found, as a "Free" User, their Customer Service Posture **bleep**. As a result, I am using an alternative "pay for it" product for my non-commercial needs. I am paying money I would gladly remit to TeamViewer -- except there is no mechanism to do that at any sort of reasonable "Personal Use" pricing level. Today, I had another example of why I almost never use TeamViewer anymore. I think, I've used it maybe once or twice in the last two years -- mostly to restart my "pay-for-it" product remotely when it hung. So, even though I don't make much use of it, I keep it around.

Problem: Today, I started getting a pop-up saying that TeamViewer had updated its EULA and encouraging me to check out the new version. Okay. I clicked the [Learn More] button on the pop-up and got a "service unavailable" error message. Now, I don't actually need to "Learn More" (there's also a link to "Stop seeing this message"); but, as a "good citizen" who has fond memories of a time when TeamViewer was quite important to my personal use of computing resources, I figured I'd pop on over to the TeamViewer Site and let somebody know. After all, some folks may actually be paying money for the service and might be extra-annoyed by a broken link. That's it; that's all -- just let somebody know something is broken. I intended to make no request for assistance; I wanted no significant technician time; I sought no support services beyond just reporting, as a courtesy, that something was broken.

Question: Is there any [reasonable] mechanism for doing that? Keep in mind that, aside from being a "good neighbor," my motivation for following up is rather low. This post probably would not be happening if I hadn't had the pop-up appear, maybe 15 times in the last hour; and, obviously, not even then if it didn't contain a broken link. A "chat" mechanism would be ideal; an email address (where my message will get read -- instead of discarded out of hand because I am not a "commercial user) would be okay; anything more complex than that would be a non-starter...

  • I came here to complain about the same thing. I get that pop up every few seconds. AND I PAY FOR MINE!!!

So, it's not for non- commercial use. it's happening to everyone. And I can actually go to the website and view the EULA, I'm here to complain about the actual pop up that never stops popping up.

    Hello @masterbeat

    Thanks for your post.

This issue has been forwarded internally so that we may uncover the root cause of the persistent EULA pop-ups.

As soon as we have more information, I will update you here.

    We apologize for any inconveniences.

  • I hope it's soon, we have hundreds of installs and so far five clients are requesting us to uninstall TeamViewer and use another remote access software.

  • Thank you Patrick M in support!

Here's what he sent, that will stop the insanity for everyone :)

You can disable TeamViewer Marketing Ads in your TeamViewer software with the following steps:

    On Windows:

Open your TeamViewer application on your desktop.

Go to the menu: >Extras >Options >Advanced >Show Advanced Options.

Scroll down to Advanced TeamViewer Options and remove the check mark from the box next to In-Product Marketing Messages.

    Click >OK at the bottom.

    On MAC:

Open your TeamViewer application on your desktop.

Go to the TeamViewer menu next to the Apple logo: >Preferences >Advanced >TeamViewer Settings

Remove the checkmark from the box next to In-Product Marketing Messages.

    Click >Apply.

About 2-3 days ago, Teamviewer started popping up the console screen (shown in the attached images) with a message about update end user license agreement. It had three options available to me. The "X" and the "Don't show this message again" allowed me to at least get rid of the popup, but it came back in about 10 or minutes.

However is I clicked on the "Learn more", it took me to a URL address (shown in the second image) that was blank except for message "The service is unavailable".

So this has been going now for the past 2-3 days. I finally shut Teamviewer down completely. Can ANYONE help me stop this. I have used Teamviewer for years to help my daughter and wife and allow me to attach to my PC on the porch. I am NOT commercial but need help. This is driving me crazy.

I tried following the instructions, but the "show in-product marketing messages" checkbox is grayed out. I'm assuming this is because I'm a free user. I use this to help elderly relatives who live far away, and this new pop up box is driving them insane :(

    Hello all,

Thanks for the information regarding this persistent pop-up.

Could you please restart your TeamViewer application on the affected devices (or restart the device) and let us know if the issue persists?

    Hi,

I got he same on two machines with an enterprise subscription.

Restarting Teamviewer and the mac devices didn't resolve the issue. The popup is coming back after a couple of hours.

    Regards,

    E.

We have encountered a dozen client computers so far and it is greyed out on almost all (most are admins.) Unfortunately we've been asked to start removing TeamViewer and install and alternate remote access software, oh well...

    Hello all,

Thank you for your feedback, and most importantly your patience while this was investigated.

I can confirm that the pop-ups should no longer be appearing on your devices. Please restart the TeamViewer service if the EULA pop-up appears again.

Should the issue persist past this, please let me know here.

Thanks again to everyone in this thread.
