remote print issue

I have been able to use remote print successfully in the past, but recently it has not worked properly.
The remote print activation process appears to be working, but when I print to the TeamViewer printer, the only option available is to open the file. The local printer is filled in on the box above "open file", but that option is greyed out, I can't select the local printer. Choosing to open the file and then print from there is a possibility, but these are checks I'm trying to print and the alignment isn't the same when printing from the file.
Why can't I select the local printer? I've always been able to do so in the past.
