Remote mouse "click" fails

Hi Folks - problem - the computer I am trying to address remotely - I can see the screen and my cursor thereon but the "click" function fails - i.e. I cannot operate the computer remotely...
It is not rational to expect anyone at the "remote end" to observe the screen to assist especially as the cursor of the remote mouse is obscured by dropdown windows....
