Is there a fix for TeamViewer.exe not found after the 22H2 windows update?

After installing the update I could not use Office or team Viewer anymore. They fixed office but won't help with team viewer

    Hello @SacSurge,

Great to see you posting for the first time! 🚀

Have you tried to uninstall TeamViewer by deleting the reg file entries and reinstalling it?

For the uninstall, you can follow these instructions: Uninstall TeamViewer on Windows.

    Looking forward to your reply.

  • Thank You for your response. I did try to uninstall and reinstall and no help. Same message. Where do I remove the reg file entries?

  • OK, found some instructions and I did delete Team Viewer entries. I reinstalled and same message.

    windows cannot find c:\Program Files\TeamViewer\TeamViewer.exe

The other night it took microsoft support over 2 hours to fix and reinstall Office while having control of my screen. Nice way to get everyone to upgrade to windows 11 I guess.

Hmm - Maybe it is the new system locating the TeamViewer.exe file somewhere else and therefore confusing TeamViewer.

After installing TeamViewer, are you able to locate it in your system?

Could you please search for TeamViewer.exe and check where it's located?

    C:\Program Files\Team Viewer

Odd that it shows 12/12 for the date when I reinstalled yesterday. Maybe I didn't do the reg entry files deletion step wrong?

When I use open file location it goes to the desktop shortcut that does show 12/19 date

Yes, I can launch it as admin and it asked do you want to allow changes, but it then gives the message cannot find

Indeed. It's a sign that the uninstallation doesn't work as expected.

    I'd recommend:

    1. Uninstalling TeamViewer following the Basic Uninstall Instructions
    2. Deleting the TeamViewer entries following the Advanced Uninstall Instructions
    3. Checking in C:\Program Files\TeamViewer if there is any file. If yes, delete it.
    4. Reinstalling TeamViewer from our website here: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download

Let me know if this has worked for you!

I exported registry file to desktop

    I uninstalled Team Viewer basic

I deleted team viewer entries in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Teamviewer]

    I deleted entries in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TeamViewer]

I also see a Team Viewer folder above the wow6432 folder should I delete that one too?

I see a folder in c:\Program files\TeamViewer that is empty except for an Update sub folder with 1 file in it. (TV15install.log)

I also see c:\Program Files(x86)\TeamViewer that is empty except for an update sub folder with the same 1 file in it.

should I delete all those folders?

Yes, you should also delete the folders that you see in wow6432.

  • I did delete that one in wow6432 but there is another onein the software sub folder of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE too

Do I want to leave anything for Team Viewer before I reinstall the 64bit version?

Bummer! I thought it was going to work too. It took microsoft support over 2 hours to reinstall Office and fix that program and they had control of my machine. Have you had other reports of TeamViewer not working after the windows 10 22H2 update was installed? Really is frustrating they send out a security update and it destroys your machine. Any other options?

Oh no! I also was pretty confident that this would fix the issue.

So far, we didn't see similar reports... maybe the update went particularly wrong on your machine?

Maybe future minor Windows updates will fix all these issues.

Let us know how it goes!
