How do I disable my computer sounds while connected to a remote machine?

It was embarrassing when my remote users heard music playing on my machine whilst I was connected to them. How do I disable that from happening again?

I, as the client/connecting party, need to disable MY 'Play computer souds and music' option to not hear the hosts' sounds.

But I can't get it to work to disable the host from even sending audio to the connecting party. I find this very weird.
