Remote Sessions started on iPhone to iMac Freezing

I downloaded the Teamviewer App on my phone and am trying to connect to my iMac. On the phone I have been successful only once. Most of the time I can connect and see the iMac desktop on my phone but it is unresponsive. I can move the mouse on my iMac by swiping on my iPhone, but the iPhone remains unresponsive. This makes the TeamViewer app on the iPhone unusable for remote control of my iMac. I am using the iPhone and iMac on the same wireless network and have a fiber connection. Can anyone help.
