Mac OS Ventura Blank Screen No Control

I am trying to remotely connect to an early 2011 iMac 27 running Ventura. If the iMac is sitting at logon, then when I connect I can see the screen. Log the iMac on and the screen on the host, irrespective of the O/S, e.g. Windows, Mac.. the screen goes black whilst the iMac goes grey and subsequently cannot be accessed. I have turned on all the system access required, screen recording etc, but nothing. Uninstalled and reinstalled Teamviewer as well as set and reset the system properties to no avail. I have to get this working somehow so appreciate any input. It is likely to be something simple and obvious that I am missing here.
