I keep getting main tab closed

I keep getting main tab closed in the middle of my session. Anyone know how to fix it?

Answers

  • I also had this problem today...hoping it's only temporary

  • We are also having this problem, is there any fix? TeamViewer is not useful to us in this state.

  • I also have this problem with an evaluation account. No answers out there?

  • I am also getting this same error message every 10-15 mins and can't find any resolution. Does anyone have any idea how to stop this?

    Hi everyone (@Reliable2010 , @Geoffers, @user567 , @Rebecca159 , @stephielail )

Thanks for bringing attention to this issue!

    • Could you provide me with more details?
    • By "main tab", do you mean TeamViewer Remote main screen or the remote session window?
    • Also, what OS are you using?

I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback!

  • I am working on a remote server using windows and running in Google Chrome. I have been using this same server for years now but this issue just arose today when I attempted to use TeamViewer but have not used in the past few weeks. When I am logged onto my cleints PC an error message pops up stating that 'The Main Tab was Closed' and it ends my session.

  • I was able to resolve this issue by selecting leave me logged in on the log in screen. The remote session tab was closing because the login timed out in the tab used to log into TeamViewer. IMO staying logged in should be default. No one wants to be randomly booted because another tab's login timed out in 10 min with no warning in the tab you are actually working in.

Thanks for sharing the additional information!

@Reliable2010 could you try selecting Leave me logged in on the login screen as suggested by @user567 ?

  • Thank you User567 for that info, much appreciated.

Carol I will definitely try that early next week when I reconnect with the client and let you know if it works for me as well.

Where do i select to keep me logged in? I keep getting main tab closed. This new interface is terrible. I miss the days of simply logging in with an ID and password to help my customers..also, when we got disconnected, it was very easy to continue the file transfer. The new version is terribly overengineered. they ruined a good thin

    Hi @Mo54 ,

Welcome to our Community, and thanks for your question!

During the sign-in process, on the same screen where you type the password you will have a check box called Keep me signed in.

Let us know if it helped you or if further assistance is needed. 🍀

    Hi @KupCare ,
Welcome to our Community and thanks for your first post!

Please make sure you're using the newest version of TeamViewer and try to log in again with the Keep me signed in option turned on.

Hi, We have just signed up to TeamViewer. We look after a number of buildings 2 of which we have TeamViewer on the enable us to remote access to open doors and boom gates. The install was easy enough but when the connection is made from our control room one of the connections times out after about 15 minutes and we get what is seen below. I have tried choosing 'Keep me signed in' when I log in and the connection in question, I have set the timeout to never on both windows and the TeamViewer that is installed on the computer. There is nothing that I can see in the settings that will solve this so if anyone can offer some advice, please I would be most appreciative.

    Hi @Andrew13_1 ,
Welcome to our Community, and thanks for your question!

Based on the error message, it seems the connection is being started via the web app. Could you confirm to us if this is the case? Or do you start the connection via the Full Client?

If the connection starts via a web app, the browser tab must stay open. If the browser is set to close tabs after a certain amount of time, once the tab is closed the connection will drop.

However, if you're using TeamViewer Full Client, we advise double-checking on the advanced settings if inactive sessions are set to time out: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/global/support/knowledge-base/teamviewer-classic/remote-control/out-of-session-features/time-out-inactive-sessions/

I'm looking forward to your reply so I can help you better.
