Have you tried to press on the toolbar in the bottom right corner and select the Keyboard during the connection?
I have highlighted the Keyboard option in the same screenshot. Once you choose the Keyboard, the full keyboard should then display on your iPad screen for you to enter the PIN.
Hope it works for you with the keyboard on display this time.

Thanks for your response. I tried that but just get a bar along the bottom. It used to work great, but hasn’t for approx. 1 year.

Thank you for coming back to me with the screenshot.
I have tried today to run a test connection from both iPhone and iPad to a Windows device. The connection went smoothly and the keyboard option was also available.
May I ask you to update TeamViewer to the latest version on both devices and then try again for the connection?
At the same time, can you share the device operating system with us please?
Keep me posted about how you go with the connection!
