Why does my router freeze after I connect have a remote connect TeamViewer session open for a couple of minutes? Could Avast's VPN function have anything to do with it?

In general, using a VPN during TeamViewer connections is not recommended, as it can lead to unexpected issues like the one you describe.
Could you please test without using the VPN to see if it fixes the issue?
