Teamviewer shows IP address until I open the GUI
I have Teamviewer (latest version as of Jan 2024, I confirmed it by clicking updates and there was none) running on Windows 11 Pro....the lappy is connected to Internet (I was running a check for Windows updates and Dell updates so very sure Internet was up).
But on my host machine, I could see that the lappy was not connected (approx 5 minutes after Windows updated started downloading) so I had to physically go to the lappy and see what was going on....I opened up the teamviewer from the taskbar and saw that it was showing IP address....then within like 10s it changed to the teamviwer ID and on my host machine it became online.
I noticed this happening to more and more machines since version 15 as I had several help calls from users and they were not "Teamviewer" connected. But when I asked them to open Teamviewer, they read to me was IP address but automatically changed to Teamviewer ID after a few seconds.
Was there a setting I needed to change ?
