Can a client be shut down remotely and maintain WOL functionality?

I’ve gotten WOL to work with my computer, but it ONLY works when the computer has been shut down manually in hands-on fashion. If I shut it down remotely or execute a timed shutdown command that enables me to disconnect before it shuts down, the icon on the remote remains blue and I get the usual erroneous message that the computer isn’t connected to the internet or doesn’t have Teamviewer loaded. Shutting the client down manually results in a black icon at the remote with a functional wake-up button. Does anyone know of a way that the computer can be shut down remotely while maintaining WOL functionality?
