How can I work on 2 different PCs in parallel?

Ladies and Gentlemen

I hope you can help me solve my problem:

I work with a laptop Akoya and Win11. I occasionally use this device to help my neighbor solve her problems on her Win 10 PC using teamviewer.

While I can access her PC from my desk, she is still able to work on her PC in parallel with her mouse or keyboard, as it should be.

I have finally motivated my wife to get involved with digital things too. She has a slightly older surface 2 with win10 at her disposal for this purpose. However, when I access this laptop as usual via teamviewer, the laptop is locked for her, i.e. she cannot perform any actions in parallel, neither with the mouse nor with the keyboard. Conversely, if I access my Akoya win 11 laptop from this surface 2 win 10, I can also work on this externally controlled laptop using the mouse or keyboard.

My question: what settings do I have to make on the surface 2 in order to be able to continue working with the mouse and keyboard on this laptop even when it is controlled externally?

Thank you in advance for your efforts and suggestions.

Greetings J. Alfter

    Welcome to our Community @hakorunner!

We are always happy to hear how our users use TeamViewer, especially when it comes to helping a neighbor or introducing their wife to the digital world! 🙌

The way you describe that your wife can no longer perform any actions on Surface 2 as soon as you are connected, the following setting immediately comes to mind: Enable local input for incoming connections

You can follow the step-by-step below:

    1. Open TeamViewer on her device ➜ on the Windows tray, right-click the TeamViewer icon to open the Options.

    2. Go to Advanced Show advanced options ➜ On Advanced settings for connecting to this computer, disable the setting Disable local input for incoming connections ➜ Click Ok to save.

📌 For further clarification: Please note that TeamViewer is a remote control software that reproduces the screen, mouse, and keyboard. TeamViewer cannot create a virtualization of the partner device. Therefore, only one person at a time can type, and use the mouse while dividing the same device screen.

Share with us how it goes, we're looking forward to your feedback! 🍀

All the best to you and your wife!

I have solved the problem: uninstalled Teamviewer and reinstalled it, since then everything has been running fine.
