Teamviewer Desktop Application can not access server to update itself??

My Teamviewer desktop application will not update itself when I use the menu item to check for new version. It says that it can not connect. I can only uninstall it and then install the newest version manually. Everything else works perfectly on the system. Any ideas to solve this?? Many thanks!!
