Can I provide TeamViewer free-license to students who cannot use PCs in the university?

Hello, I am an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Software at Induk University.

Can I provide TeamViewer to students who cannot use PCs on campus?

It is difficult for students to visit school due to the corona 19 virus.

So, we ask if you can use the TeamViewer free license through a one-on-one match between the PC owned by the school and the student's personal PC.

    Hello @indukcomso

Thank you for your post ?

Please note that connecting to or from universities is recognized as Commercial use, which means that a TeamViewer license is required. Keeping in mind that students need to pay money to visit a university so we count it as commercial use.

In the meantime, I understand that it is difficult for students to visit University during the pandemic. Therefore I would recommend to reach out to our Sales team to discuss the options for educational institutes.

Thank you for your understanding and hope this information will help you ?

    Kind regards,

I am currently utilizing a virtual machine provided by the university, which I access using my personal TeamViewer account. This virtual machine is equipped with software that, while licensed by the university, is not included in our academic curriculum. Importantly, the software is intended for personal educational purposes and is not part of any formal university coursework. Additionally, the software package installed on the virtual machine is not actively used by the university itself, allowing me to self-train independently.

Given this setup, could you please clarify whether I need to secure a separate license for TeamViewer, considering its use is not mandated by any university course but is facilitated by the university’s resources?
