Proxy messages appear persistently If network connection changed

Hi All,

We have recently been taking calls about proxy messages appearing on users devices when they are internal to our internal network.

We have done a little digging and this appears to occur when users have booted up wired or wireless and then have to (for whatever reason) plug a network cable in or remove it.

At this time the proxy messages appear and persistently pop up when cancelled.

If the app is exited from and re-launched, the popup's stop once the app has contacted the TeamViewer servers (i.e. the app has an ID and Password).

Same to say, if the user then reverses the process of re-connecting or removing the network cable, then the same proxy messages appear once again.

We have tried changing the registry values for proxy (it is set to auto discover) but nothing seemed to help with the above behaviour.

Any help with this would be greatly received.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

Am experiencing this issue. No resolution found for us either at present.

    Hi Dowen,

Glad to hear it isnt just me / us.

We tried everything, and have had a case open with TeamViewer support.

The things we tried were alternate configuration and removing all proxy configuration. Turns out that (for us at least) that despite the app not having any proxy configuration, it was picking up the proxy details from the users session and config within the WPAD/PAC file.

TeamViewer support have finally come back to me recently to let me know that

"According to the developers, what's happening here is expected behavior."

from our experience, this never used to happen, but does now. So I guess this is new expected behaviour.

As a final test I have asked our Network Team to look at adding *.teamviewer.com to the WPAD to allow unauthenticated traffic.

Will try to remember to report back if they agree and we have tested.

    Cheers
