Why do I have Teamviewer Processes Runing When Teamviewer Not In Use

Hi, I've been having some performance issues on my PC so trying to understand all the processes that are running but are not in my start up apps. Teamviewer is on the list. I use free Teamviewer to assist an elderly parent to avoid long drive when she gets stuck - so not a daily or even monthly use - so do I need this backgroup process running?
