Does Teamviewer Work Through an Active VPN Connection On My System?

Hi, As the title mentions, I'm having pretty bad delays due to an already slow connection at work (a lot of people on at the same time) and what also didn't help was that I added a VPN connection. Question is, does Teamviewer go through that connection (I suppose it is, as the entire system is connected) and if so, how can I make it so that it goes through my regular connection, outside of VPN? Appreciate the help!
