Configure display settings while remoting to be always 'On' when laptop screen is closed

Hello, when my remote computer laptop screen is shut but laptop is still on, teamveiwer is using the wrong display state as when I remote the computer, it only displays a black screen. It should be able to display the Windows screen even when the external display if off. Can this be fixed?
