Won't display full screen with Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.1 - Need another DE?

I'm trial testing TeamViewer 12 on an HP EliteBook 850 G2 with discrete AMD graphics with Linux Mint 81.1 Cinnamon. Remote computer is running Win 10. Both machines have FHD panels (1920x1080).

When I enter full screen mode, TeamViewer becomes invisible revealing the desktop. The mouse and keyboard do control the remote computer, it is just that the display on the local computer shows the desktop.

I expect there a compatibility issue with Cinnamon or possibly an issue with the graphics drivers in LM. Is there a desktop environment under which TV is proven to work in full screen mode?
