Unable to control PC with monitor off

Hello I've been using the free teamviewer to access my home pc from my laptop for years now. I have my home pc connected to a tv, and as long as the tv is on I'm able to access the pc and work on it. In the past I was able to control and work on the pc with the tv/monitor off, however now I can no longer do that. I am able to connect and I can see the desktop but can not control anything.  Is there a setting I can adjust to get that working?

    I currently use a dual screen, I also have this problem, the screen will be damaged.

    I am able to see everything fine on mine, I just cannot do anything
