Teamviewer is open when I start my computer

When I turn on my computer there is a pop up box that says "please tell your partner this ID to connect to your computer" And there is a 9 digit ID #. Is someone viewing my computer without my knowledge?

Let me assure you that simply having TeamViewer installed or running on your computer will not allow anyone to connect to your computer without your knowledge. 

Nobody can connect to your PC without knowing your ID and password. That is why we would always ask our users to only provide these credentials to people that they know and trust. Since it is always possible in public places that someone will be able to sneak a glance at your screen and see your ID and password, the random password that is displayed in the main window is replaced by a new one every time you restart the software. You can also change it manually at any moment: Simply hover over the password, click on the arrow that will appear and select "Create new random password".

If you would like to have some extra security, I would recommend setting up a white or blacklist. You can do this under "Extras > Options > Security > Rules for connections to this computer". 

A blacklist will allow you to prevent certain people from connecting. A whitelist, on the other hand, will let you choose the people who are allowed to connect -- nobody else will be able to remote control your machine, not even if they happen to know your ID and password.

Moreover, you can decide which type of control your partners are going to have:  "Extras > Options > Advance > Show advanced options > Advanced settings for connections to this computer > Access control"

That way, you can deny certain actions (such as connections to your computer, remote control or file transfer) or make sure that you will have to explicitly allow them.

As you can see, there are plenty of options to make your TeamViewer connections secure. I would also like to stress that no "secret" connections to your device are possible with TeamViewer: Any incoming connection will open a panel in the lower right-hand corner of your screen, which will show the ID/name of the person connecting and also allow you to end the connection at any moment.

However, if you still do not feel comfortable having the software on your computer: just uninstall it. If you wish to use TeamViewer again in the future, it will only take you a few minutes to reinstall it
