computer ID comes up as IP address

My Dad installed version 14.7 and how his computer ID is an IP address, a private address.  I put the same version on my computer using the same operating system and got a regular ID.  Has anyone else run in to this?  Did he do something wrong when he installed it?  How do we fix it?

    Thanks for your post.

    In cases TeamViewer only shows an IP address there are two possible reasons:

    1. TeamViewer has no access to the Internet (If this is the case, you might want to open Port 5938 in your firewall for outgoing connections)
    2. Someone set TeamViewer to accept exclusively Incoming LAN connections (If this is the case, you can undo it here: Extras --> Options --> General --> under Network settings --> Incoming LAN connections --> choose deactivated)

    Uninstall and reinstall TeamViewer on your father's computer. Make sure to follow the installation instructions carefully and check for any errors during the process.
