TeamViewer will not open after download to MAC

I have tried to download TeamViewer Free for MAC and Apple remote coordinator has tried also and it will not open once you download. It will put a file on my desktop but will not open when you click on it. If I right click it gives me an option to open but it will not do it that way either.
Apple had me update my computer which is not old and they said it should open but they cannot figure it out.
