Does TeamViwer_service.exe requently get updated?
My Bitdefender anti virus frequently, about every qweek or so, reports
""The application TeamViwer_service.exe has changed and is attempting to connect to the Internet"
It then blocks the application unless I specifically allow it. I don't want to dos in case this service has been hacked and is being used by someone to gain access to my machine.
Does TV regularly update this service causing it to change, ie is this a genuine change I can trust?
How can I tell if the copy of TeamViwer_service.exe I have is genuine or not?
Can I download a clean version of it from somewhere

Hi @coldwater
I am not a specialist to answer this question about how frequently the Teamviewer app is updated.
But I can tell you for sure that if you are afraid about some possible hacker change in the app that's in your computer, then I would strongly recommend you to follow these steps:
- Make a full uninstall the Teamviewer app (see here how to do it).
- Then reboot the machine.
- Perform any available windows updates and update the antivirus database as well.
- Run a full computer scan with your Antivirus (it could take some minutes to complete, depending on the file size in your computer). If it asks you to reboot after the scan, then do it.
- If you see to the scan results that some virus detected, then after the virus removal you must follow again the same procedure (run again the computer full scan to verify that now is clean, reboot again if needed) until you are sure that your computer is virus-free.
- Download the Teamviewer app again from the official TeamViewer website and install it as well. You can always trust the app downloaded from the official website.
- If you complete all these steps and you see again that the app is updating every some minute, then in my personal opinion it must be normal to happening this. I have seen many times an Antivirus to identify as a suspect app, some apps that it was 100% clean and downloaded certified version from vendors like Mircosoft or other big ones.
I hope this helps. In another case, it would be helpful if you upload a screenshot of the antivirus message.
Best regards
