my ID blank after windows XP crash
One of my machines is still running XP, I am trying to remotely upgrade it to something more modern, but while setting up a vmware container the XP machine crashed (blue screen of death). After the reboot (to XP) Teamviewer appears to start, then reports no connection to the internet (even though everything else on the machine has no internet problem) and leaves my ID just a dash.
Can anyone offer clues to where I start lookin for the cause ?

I seem to have solved it now, nothing to do with Teamviewer as it turns out.
A little investigation showed that the machine had no internet at all, not even to access the router, which was solved by uninstalling the application that had taken control of the ethernet port. This leads me to suspect that a Teamviewer ID may not be stored on each machine, and instead reloaded from Teamviewer servers as part of an application startup handshake.
If this is true, no network = no ID.. which would fully explain the perceived problem. In summary, if you get a blank (or just a dash) ID and password, check if you have a problem with your internet connection.

Check your windows firewall settings. (start with disableing it) then maybe try re-installing TeamViewer.
