What does it mean to assign device to TeamViewer account? Consequences?
Hi Folks,
What does it mean to assign device to TeamViewer account? Could there be any uninteded consequences to doing so?
For example, once assigned to an account, could a host only installation, be upgraded to a full installation, and allow someone access to all of my previously used hosts?
I considered just setting it up and trying it, but I was hoping someone would know the answer.
Thanks,
Steven

Hello @stevenlee
Thank you for your message and welcome to the TeamViewer Community! ?
Assigning a device to your TeamViewer account will allow you to things like
- deploying TeamViewer policies on this device
- setting up easy access
- adding it automatically the device to your computers & contacts list
It also allows you to remotely monitor a device in cases like:
- outdated antivirus protection,
- a disabled firewall,
- missing Windows updates, or
- a full disk drive
There is no security downgrade by doing this. Actually, it is a security upgrade.
